CSCI Fills the Gap

Local governments and community-based organizations across the U.S. lack the funding, staff capacity, and technical expertise needed to plan and implement effective climate resilience strategies. CSCI was created to close this gap with a model that brings grant dollars and expert support to communities that would otherwise go without. CSCI’s resources help communities plan, engage their constituents, prioritize climate resilience projects, and secure funding for implementation.

CSCI Helps Funders Multiply Their Impact

As climate risks escalate and public funding shifts, private investment plays a crucial role in enabling proactive climate adaptation. Partnering with CSCI unlocks resources to scale equitable, nature-based resilience projects where they will deliver the greatest impact, helping communities prepare, not just react.

Through CSCI investment, funders are able to:

  • Unlock high‑impact, locally-led climate resilience projects
  • Prioritize the voices of frontline and under‑resourced U.S. communities
  • Multiply the impact of their investment by leveraging current CSCI dollars, including from federal and philanthropic partners
  • Build and strengthen a national pipeline of climate adaptation practitioners ready to support community needs

Addressing a Rising Demand

Interest in CSCI has accelerated each year. Applications have doubled annually since launch, signaling an urgent need for comprehensive support, including financial, technical, and community-level assistance. CSCI’s ability to support communities is constrained by available regranting dollars. Each year, the total funding requested exceeds what CSCI can award, leaving many high‑need communities unfunded.

Invest in CSCI

Together, we can scale effective, nature‑based resilience, strengthen the climate adaptation workforce, and ensure the communities most at risk receive the support they need to thrive.
